Curry & Company Selects HarvestMark as their Traceability Platform
Trimble, Sunnyvale, CA – May 3, 2011 – HarvestMark, Inc., the leader in traceability and authentication solutions, today announced that Curry & Company, a year-round supplier of onions, sweet onions, carrots and blueberries, has selected its HarvestMark platform to enhance consumer engagement and comply with industry traceability standards. As part of the program, consumers will be able to trace Curry & Company blueberries back to the farm and share valuable product feedback via HarvestMark. Curry and Company will also use HarvestMark PTI to comply with the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI).
"The HarvestMark traceability platform allows us to implement new programs that support and enhance our reputation for providing the very best farm fresh produce and professional service to be found anywhere," said Matt Curry, CEO of Curry & Company. "Utilizing the HarvestMark system will help us meet our buyers’ requirements to become PTI compliant, while also allowing us to engage with consumers in new and very relevant ways."
Curry & Company, a third-generation produce business that was founded in 1967, works to create value for buyers and the grower community through the delivery of a unique model of service and market insight. The family business has experienced exponential growth in recent years, with its onion, carrot and blueberry programs expanding nationwide. Starting this summer, consumers will be able trace their Curry & Company blueberries at the touch of an iPhone or through the HarvestMark website to learn more about where, when and how their produce was grown. In addition to strengthening the company’s relationship with consumers, HarvestMark item-level traceability will enable Curry & Company to collect valuable product feedback directly from consumers.
The PTI compliance milestone for growers and shippers is quickly approaching. Curry & Company will use HarvestMark PTI to easily address the data management and printing of PTI-compliant case and RPC labels. Each label is fully compliant with PTI guidelines, and printed with a unique HarvestMark code that can be traced on the web or simply scanned with the HarvestMark iPhone app, enabling instant traceability anywhere in the supply chain.
"We’re pleased to support Curry & Company’s commitment to innovation and food safety," said J. Scott Carr, CEO of HarvestMark. "Curry & Company’s use of HarvestMark for both consumer engagement and PTI compliance will give them unparalleled insight into quality, and will open the door to powerful new connections with retail customers and shoppers across the U.S."
