Retail Industry Veteran Joins HarvestMark Team as Vice President of Retail Sales

Kevin Shiplett joins the leading food traceability and insights team to bring new solutions to grocery retailers

Trimble, Sunnyvale, CA. – September 27, 2012 – HarvestMark Inc., provider of HarvestMark, the industry-leading fresh food traceability and insights platform, today announced the appointment of Kevin Shiplett as vice president of retail sales. Shiplett will focus on sales of the HarvestMark platform’s traceability and fresh supply chain insights for all grocery retail channels.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin as a key member of the HarvestMark sales team,” said HarvestMark CEO J. Scott Carr. “Kevin’s unique experience combines a successful career in retail and wholesale grocery with four years of selling software-as-a-service solutions to grocers. He brings the customer’s perspective to the HarvestMark team, with a wealth of experience in retail and wholesale operations, category management, and merchandising. Kevin will play a key role in driving the HarvestMark platform’s continued growth by bringing our traceability and insights solutions to major grocery retailers.”

Shiplett has spent more than 36 years in the retail and wholesale industry, working for companies including Supervalu, Kroger and Navarro Discount Drugstores, as well as four years selling software-as- a-service solutions to the grocery channel for the Park City Group and Icontrol USA. Shiplett served as senior vice president of wholesale operations for Navarro Discount Pharmacies, and was responsible for designing and developing the chain’s Hispanic wholesale strategy for Latin America, Caribbean and Miami markets. At SuperValu, Shiplett served as vice president of business development, vice president of category management and director of deli. During his tenure at Kroger, Shiplett provided leadership in the Columbus, Florida and Dallas markets, with responsibilities including operations and deli/bakery merchandising. Shiplett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Ohio State University.

“72% of shoppers select their grocer based on the quality of the produce department,” said Shiplett. “This is driving the demand to use insights that integrate data from the harvest, the edge of shelf, and the voice of the shopper to help retailers and growers optimize quality and freshness. The HarvestMark platform is the only solution to bring all of this data together to provide valuable insights from the grower’s field to the shopper’s kitchen. I’m excited to bring this platform to retail grocers across North America.”

The HarvestMark platform brings fresh food customers cost-effective, reliable solutions that make traceability simpler, more accurate and more useful, so customers can easily comply with standards, build shopper loyalty and capture valuable feedback, and win with quality and freshness. HarvestMark solutions are used today by more than 400 brands, sourcing fresh food from 4,000 farms from Canada to Argentina. Customers include The Kroger Co., Driscoll's Strawberry Associates, Sun World and Calavo. The HarvestMark platform not only helps customers meet government and industry requirements; proprietary HarvestMark analytics have the potential to drive billions of dollars of new annual profit for retailers, food service operators and fresh food producers.
