December 2013: The Gift of Growing – Helping Kids Get Their Hands Dirty!
We applaud the women and men of the fresh produce industry, who strive every day to provide beautiful, nutritious, affordable food to the world. Every serving is keeping somebody, somewhere in good health or helping them improve their health. Our goal is to help the industry grow – by providing information to growers, retailers and shoppers that help make better decisions.
We believe it is also critically important to get the next generation aware of where their food comes from and inspired by growing food for themselves. Every year, we donate part of our revenue to inner-city and high poverty schools to help them build school gardens. We do this on behalf of our customers and our employees. This year we are supporting the purchase of gardening supplies and tools for schools in Jones OK, Hilo HI, Spartanburg SC, Miami FL, and New York City. You can find out more about our Gift of Growing program here, where we’ll post letters and photos from the schoolchildren.
HarvestMark wishes all of our friends a happy holiday and a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year. We are looking forward to working with you in 2014 to continue to make the world a better place to eat.

Continuing to Innovate
In November, HarvestMark was awarded its 20th US Patent, number 8,573,476. The patent covers systems and methods for making packaging - like clamshells - traceable.
The company was awarded 5 US patents in 2013, in addition to international patents in China, Taiwan and Mexico. HarvestMark continues to invest in innovation, making food system information more accessible, more useful, and more cost effective.
